چکیده
The radiative transfer equation (RTE) models the transport of light inside photonic scattering samples such as paint, foam and tissue. Analytic approximations to solve RTE fail for with strong absorption dominant anisotropic predict unphysical negative energy densities diffuse flux in wrong direction. Here we fully characterize regions three popular a slab, namely $P_1$ approximation (or diffusion approximation), $P_3$ approximation, modification that corrects forward approximation. We find delta function correction eliminates range scattering. Analytical modeling of light transport in scattering materials with strong absorption.
We have investigated the transport of light through slabs that both scatter and strongly absorb, a situation that occurs in diverse application fields ranging from biomedical optics, powder technology, to solid-state lighting. In particular, we study the transport of light in the visible wavelength range between 420 and 700 nm through silicone plates filled with YAG:Ce3+ phosphor particles, tha...
متن کاملScattering at sidewall roughness in photonic crystal slabs.
We have simulated the effect of sidewall roughness in photonic-crystallike structures with different vertical refractive-index contrast. We treated the scattering off a sidewall irregularity as a radiating dipole excited by the incident waveguide mode. We show that the loss that is due to this scattering is significantly larger for structures with a low refractive-index contrast (such as GaAs/A...

we investigate the temperature-dependences of the Brillouin frequency shift in three different kind of single-mode fibers using a heterodyne method for sensing temperature. Positive dependences coefficients of 0.77, 0.56 and 1.45MHz/0C are demonstrated for 25 km long single-mode fiber, 10 km long non-zero dispersion shifted fiber and 100 m photonic crystal fiber, respectively. The results indic...

متن کاملPeculiarities in light scattering by spherical particles with radial anisotropy.
Light scattering by a spherical particle with radial anisotropy is discussed by extending Mie theory to diffraction by an anisotropic sphere, including both the electric and the magnetic anisotropy ratio. It is shown that radial anisotropy may lead to great modifications in scattering efficiencies and field enhancement, elucidating the importance of anisotropies in the control of scattering. Th...
